According to Dr. Thornburg (2009), rhymes
of history are defined as the affect or impact of a new development that
rekindles something from the past. Video games are an example of rhymes of
history. Video games rekindle arcade games from the past. Arcade games have now
evolved to handheld games to home consoles and home computers.
Video games are known for being a popular
pastime for kids but have now evolved to adults as well. The gaming industry is
now a billion dollar company. There are some video games that can now be played
without a controller because many games now offer sensor bars that detect and
mimic the player’s movements. Games continue to improve and have become more
life-like than ever due to the growing sophistication of technology.

When the word Arcade game, I remember Pac Man. Pac Man was a game that had characters name Minnie, Innie, Bennie, Lennie. They went around the board eating all the little dots. The cherries counted more. But, if they caught up with you, you would loss. I have never went pass phrase 1.
ReplyDeleteJanel,
ReplyDeleteI agree that video games rekindle something from the past. I believe that in the recent past, they rekindle a need for entertainment that was formerly satisfied by playing chess, backgammon, and dominos. In more distant past, this rekindles the olympic games.
